Spiritual Oppression

It is insanely wild what the people of God go through!
Have you ever found yourself being pulled into old, bad habits or fighting fear out of nowhere? There are so many ways that the Enemy comes for God's children. What do we do when we fee
l this type of oppression from the Enemy?
I was speaking to a lady at a side job I was working, and I asked her about the Lord. She told me she used to pray and read her Bible, but she felt like a demon was holding her body down while she slept, every time she opened the Bible. So she stopped reading it so that wouldn't happen. I told her that the Enemy doesn't want the world to follow Christ and to read the Word that would point them to Christ. We talked for a while after that and I prayed over her that she would not stop following Jesus Christ because of the demonic oppression.
You see, demonic oppression or spiritual oppression, happens to God's children when we start to come to terms with our identity in Christ and start getting closer to God by reading the Word more. I, myself, have experienced spiritual oppression in many different ways. The Enemy has attacked me in my sleep- conscious and unconscious- and the oppression is ALWAYS revved up based on how obedient I am, me being used for the glory of the Lord despite what my life looks like and when I let go of the world more and cling to Him and His word.

Of course, there are things we need to be mindful of when we experience spiritual oppression. For instance, the amount of television we watch, the type of television and media we consume, the books we read, the sins we consistently commit, the unforgiveness deep in our hearts, the idols we've made in our lives, etc. We should offer our whole lives and bodies to the Lord and ask Him to reveal what we should be repentant of. Ask Holy Spirit to remind you what was the last thing God told you do and ask for help to be obedient to it.
If you've done all of this and still experience attacks, my encouragement is first CONGRATS, because the Enemy sees you as God's chosen and wants to fight against your calling. Then, secondly, keep being in the Word, stand up against the Enemy from a stance of victory and NEVER feel ashamed or sad after an attack. Speak the Word over yourself and tell that Enemy to get out, in the name of Jesus! Christ Jesus is your portion and the blood of Jesus is your protectant. Here is a prayer I like to say before bed time or any time I know I've been attacked. I've printed this out and post it on my wall. This helps me and I pray it helps you, as well.
"Dear Lord, I renounce Satan and all his plans and schemes to get me to fall. I hate his demons and count them my enemy. I renounce any ties to Satan, in Jesus name. I command all demonic spirits to leave me and my home, in Jesus name! Christ Jesus is my portion. Whom the Son sets free, is surely free indeed! I declare that I am free, in Jesus' name! I am covered by the blood of Christ. I have victory because of the sacrifice of Christ. The Lord is my shepard and I shall not want. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is my rock and my shield. The Lord is my glory and the lifter of my head. My life and all that is in me will glorify and praise the Lord! HalleluYah! In Jesus' name, Amen!"
-Shoutout to Derek Prince ministries. I got some of this prayer from watching his videos.
