Make America _______!

On this 24th anniversary of the fatal day of 9/11, I encourage you to ponder the answer to two questions: What has America come to, now? And what can America do to be "great" (again)?

There is a common saying in the conservative side of politics. In fact, I believe with Mr. Donald Trump as president, is in the slogan for his term in office- Make America Great Again. Well, first, to be on the same page of what "great" means, let's use the Oxford dictionary for the definition. It says, "very good or very effective; excellent"

I do not profess myself to be so politically inclined to ANY party, as both sides of the political spectrum do not accurately represent the one thing I build my life on - Christ Jesus. This is just my personal opinion. However, I do like to challenge the ideas of conservative political leaders in how they want to make America "a better place" (again).

When I think of where we are as country, today, I can't help but think of how we've come to place in time where there are more mass shootings than ever. How there are more unnecessary ingredients in processed food than years before. And not to mention the increased need for Behavioral Technicians and Specialists for the increasing amount of autistic children. It makes you want to think- what is really going on?

I don't know about you, but I watch many documentaries (the British and French ones are my fave- they make them as if it's a delicate art!). The latest one I watched was about poverty in America. It mentioned the current problems American's are having with increases costs of living with no increase (or fair increase) of wages. And this has been the story for awhile now, just getting worse and more evident today.

I think maybe you can feel this poverty on a larger or smaller scale anywhere you go in the world, but it makes me wonder when exactly was America a "great" country. Because even in the 1900s where blacks were thriving in business, they still had to fight Jim Crow laws and systemic injustice, heightened by the reconstruction era after the Civil War. And let's not forget about the old Hollywood/political child sex trafficking ring (that still exists today) that started in the 1800s- maybe even before then! My point is, this country, along with the whole world, has never been "great"- very good or very effective; excellent.

Since the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, things have not been "great"! We may get glimpses of greatness and happiness. But in this life full of sinners and demonic oppression on so many, true greatness can NOT be obtained. So what do we do? How do we erase the past and be "great" going forward? The answer is simple- look upon and cling to the only One who is GREAT- YAHWEH! He is The I AM; The "Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh" The GREAT I AM. No person, no political system, no set of rules and structures, could ever compare to this GREAT God. We know how great He is, through His son Yeshua Ha Maschiach- Jesus the Messiah. Jesus shows us character of God in the Word of God and we cling to Him and look to Him and His instruction if we really want to know true GREATNESS.

So I encourage you, to not look for earthly ways and mandates to make America great (again). But instead, look to how you can show America (or your own country, if not America) true GREATNESS by sharing and spreading the love of Christ to all. While we're on this side of eternity, our job is to be a beacon of light in so much darkness. How are you doing that, today? How are you making your country see WHO is GREAT?
